What is Detasseling?

Here is what they are supposed to do.

They boys are detasseling corn this summer. Caleb did it last summer and Eli started this summer. Sometimes I like to check on their location, and it always comes up very similar to this picture. In the middle of several fields. It's hot, dirty work, but they make decent money, and that allows them to play during the school year.
