Fly Away!

I had a little too much excitement this morning as my dogs went after this young bird.

The bird swooped down from a near-by tree, and over the bean field. My dogs went right after it. Then it changed course, circled around, flew low, and landed in the yard. Prin was on its tail (and my have nipped its tail feathers).

I got the dogs inside and grabbed my normal camera to get a couple of pictures. Then Prin got out and tried to show the bird who was boss. The bird flew up over the bean field and then back into the yard.

I finally got Prin away from bird and inside so they are all safe.

Dogs

I took the dogs out for a walk. Prin was getting into mischief, and had too much energy. Rather than try to keep scolding her, I decided I would try to redirect her energy with a walk.

First Day of School.2

The three younger children ride the bus, so they didn't leave quite as early as Caleb. Every year I have them make the grade they are going into with their fingers so we know which "first day" it is. In their goofy picture Eli has 8 fingers up, Emily has 7 appendages up (six fingers and a tongue), and Claire has four fingers out.

To say they are excited to go back to school is an understatement.

I hope they have a fabulous day.

First Day of School

The children have been excited about the first day of school, and it is finally here.

They wanted a "healthy" breakfast. So Emily made eggs. Caleb has a school class that is before school, so he took off early.

New Locker

Last night Emily had an open house. We went to the new middle school, and she got her new locker. We are excited for school to start!

Keys

Last night Caleb had friends over. They had a bonfire. When I went out to check on them people have lanyards hanging down and I was afraid they would catch on fire. I collected the keys and set them on the counter for safekeeping.

Wild Life

Last week end we cleared out some weeds and made a fire ring. In the process we found some wild life.

BaRoom

Last night we made a trip up to Minnesota. Today we picked up Brett's motorcycle. We're driving it home!

Training

Emily and I went out for a walk with the dogs this morning, and then I made Emily run. She will be doing cross country for school. So I am doing some training with her. She wasn't very happy with me (especially since I rode my bike).

New School

They are opening a new middle school here for 5th - 8th grade. They invited parents to come tour with their students. They asked some 8th grade students to give the tours. Eli gave tours four evenings this past week (8th graders, 7th graders, 6th graders, and 5th graders) to parents and students. Since Emily will be attending, took her and Claire to tour the school. I didn't tour with Eli since he was giving the tours (and he is going through a phase where he doesn't really want me around).

The school is beautiful and I just hope it is finished by the time school is supposed to start.

Memories

After activities on Wednesday night, I sat outside of the church all by myself and waited for a ride. It reminded me of when I was younger and waited for my parents to come and get me.
