Body Art

This is the second week that Caleb has come home with a "tatoo." He tells me that when a pretty girl asks to draw on your arm you can't say no.

Last week he had the "dark mark" on his forearm.  This week he came home with this one.

Poor Guy

Eli stayed home sick today. He threw up all night long. Poor little man!

I am glad he is resting now.

Battle Wounds

Three days ago I was walking LuLu out to the car, without a leash, on a rainy day. She was pulling, so I had a tight grip around her collar. Brett was standing at the car door, and he decided to be helpful by calling LuLu. She got excited and took off toward him. I could not let go of her collar, so she pulled me over. I did a beautiful shoulder roll. I hit my wrist, my knee, and my shoulder. I have a super tight muscle in my neck and my back, and I think I can attribute it to my tumble.

My body hurts from the fall, but I think I injured my pride more.

Success

I made it to Claire's presentation today. Here she is as Clara Barton, founder of the Red Cross. She did a great job teaching the audience about her famous person.

It's a 4th Child Thing

Claire put a few notes around the house to remind me of her presentation today.

When she brought her note home, I told her she would need to remind me. She has reminded me almost every day since she brought her note home.

Why would she need to remind me? With the end of the school year, there has been so many activities, and my brain is fried.

On Caleb's birthday, I was supposed to go in and help her teacher for a half hour in the afternoon. I was so busy prepping everything for Caleb's birthday that I forgot to go in.

The next day, Claire had a field trip to a baseball game that I needed to drive her to a different school and pick her up from the same school. She said to me, "Mom, please don't forget me today, (then a long pause) but if you do, that's OK because Tyler is going on the field trip and if you forget me, I'll just get a ride with him."

I did not forget her. I remembered to pick her up (and she was a little disappointed because she wanted to go to Tyler's house).

Spring Concert - Take V

Eli had a choir concert. He had a rap solo. He was quite nervous for his solo, but he did a great job.

Friends & Fire

Eli had a friend over and they wanted to have a bonfire. I had to leave for a little while, so I told him they would have to wait until I got home. He and his friend collected wood and built the structure to start the fire. As soon as I got home, they were out lighting in.

They had a lot of fun outside playing.

Frontier Trip

Claire has a field trip to the frontier museum here in town. Her teacher encouraged them to dress and pack a lunch to match the time period. When I heard this, I told her that her great grandfather used to pack a lard and onion sandwich wrapped in newspaper.

I've teased her for a couple of weeks, and this morning she came to me almost in tears and asked of she really had to take onion and lard.

She took homemade bread and jam, an apple, a ginger cookie, and some beef jerky. I think she was happy. This picture is right before she went into class.

I was treated to a nice breakfast this morning.

Sleepy Heads Again

Claire wanted me to see how she had fallen asleep, so she posed for me. She assures me that she really did fall asleep right there in that position.

I went to bed and found Brett had fallen asleep.

I came out of my room and found these two. I guess the late nights are catching up with them.

Notes

Brett and I went out to visit a couple of people, and it took longer than expected. We came home and found these (as well as a sleeping girl). - Em left Brett and me some notes before she went to bed.

First Flowers

Claire picked some flowers for me. She put them in this glass with some rocks. She asked what I thought Nd I told her they were beautiful, but I didn't like the rocks in my glass because I'm afraid it will break.

When Brett saw it, he asked who put the rocks in the glass. I told him Claire picked flowers for me. He said it was very artistic, but not the best idea to have rocks in the glass.

Poor little thing, she just wanted to make it pretty, and we are too practical.

I did change them from the glass to a plastic container so we can enjoy her artistic creation.

Snow No More

We had a snow day on Thursday with 7+ inches of snow. Four days later, this is what we have.

Girl's Night

The boys went to Iron Man last night. I took the girls shopping. We found prom dresses, and the girls wanted to try them on.

They were cute. They both said, "I feel pretty!" They were also excited to take them off because they weren't comfortable. Emily had to keep her chest puffed out to keep her dress up, and Claire had the hanger straps over her shoulders to keep hers up.

Then we came home and put a movie in.

Rude Awakening

I got up this morning to let the dogs out and take Caleb to seminary. I got the call about school being cancelled. About an hour later, I crawled back into bed just in time for Brett to get up. Brett got ready and left. I was asleep, or at least of in a pre-sleep, relaxed state when my phone rang. It was Brett. I asked him what was up, and he told me to look out the window.  I looked out my bedroom window, and he was stuck in the slushy snow. I got to wake Caleb up, put on my boots, grab a shovel, and help dig him out.

That was not how I wanted to start my morning.

Seriously?

We are out of school today because of snow. There is more snow to fall.

Missing Him

Brett went away for a night. I do ok all day, but when I go to get ready for bed and open up the vanity I see it empty, and it makes my heart sink and gives me a pit in my stomach. I enjoy having him here with me. I don't like him gone, it makes me feel empty.
